gosh i swear, my apartment will be looking like a cheese afterwards with all these drilling. i thought it was just my neighbor who keeps drilling around 9am yup even on a sunday which is why ive forced myself to get up early now. i hate being awaken by this noise. but yesterday i had dinner at ajisen ramen (sort of like tokyo tokyo restaurant here) and i heard the drilling again. it was hella funny, the other customers were complaining. i wish they’d just do this hint hint hint
MONDAY TO FRIDAY (8am to 5pm)
that’s the time most people go to work therefore you won’t be disturbing anybody. but i don’t think they care whether or not they’re annoying everybody.
well anyway i figured everyone else has this problems as i’ve been reading updates on facebook and twitter complaining about this sort of thing as well. you know what i do when the drilling starts? i practice my piano! hahah well im pretty sure by now my neighbors would love to hear my piano than this bunch of noise. lol.
yesterday, i was quite bored, i didn’t know what to do. i started working on my blog, but i get distracted with all these noise. and so i just started adgitizing and dropping some ec’s on other people’s blogs out of boredom. but the funny thing is, almost half of the bloggers ive dropped ec’s on are filipinos! yeah go bros and sisses!
next time i’d make a link of all the filipino bloggers ive seen in this blog. most of them are away from the country too, we call them ofw, overseas filipino workers (yeah i know you dont wanna know, but i’m telling you anyway).
so anyway back to how bored i was. i decided to turn on the dvd though im not watching it, just so ive got some noise around (yeah other than the drilling) while ironing. before i always complained every 10 minutes: i hate ironing! i hate ironing!
but yesterday i finished even before the film ended. lol.
oh well, i guess im gonna clean up again after this. im actually looking forward to go to work tomorrow. it’s odd when you don’t get to speak to a lot of people during freetime. it’s not as fun as i would’ve wanted it to be.
my bf jessie is so sweet i called him yesterday…but he was kinda busy so i just hang up afterwards. just when i was finally getting used to being bored. he called me up and talked to me for a long time. he said when i told him how bored i was he decided to finish it up quickly so he could call me. awww…how sweet. i miss him a lot!
oh well, that’s all for now. ciao. how’s everyone’s vacation? luckily my friends are going back today from vacation. note to self: i’d go somewhere next time there’s a holiday break. or buy myself a wii or something. or maybe these:
wishlists to avoid boredom:
- wii
- xbox
- dance revo (hey i was good at this when i was in college!)
- magic sing (yeah i’ll annoy my neighbors to death with aegis songs hahah)
- books i said ill read but i hardly touched them
- magazines (including the techie ones ive always wanted to buy but im just scared someone will figure out what a nerd i was)
- sewing machine and overlock machine (this is for third-degree boredom, as in im really really bored im beginning to talk to myself lol)
haha there. most of the time, people are away on vacation so im just left home alone. otherwise i would’ve gone out with my friends. also that reminds me, i wanna buy those light aviator sunglasses. i hate going out and people from school recognize you. im more of a window shopper in silence type. ok gotta clean up thanks for listening to me blabbering.
top: zara, skirt: h&m
shoes: h&m
necklace: h&m
yeah i’m really into h&m nowadays coz they’re the only ones cheap enough and have the styles that i want ok now here are some zoo pics…pls click on the thumbnails to enlarge.
ok first and foremost i never really thought that the zoo in Shanghai is awful. They told me they tortured the animals in small cages or something. But really it’s not true, i’ll post pictures later. The cages are pretty big, they have vegetation on them, some are in garden or jungle like areas, so it’s really not like they’re in a cage. And not once did i see them being maltreated or anything. You know i think the rumor is just from those “my-country-can-do-so-much-better-than-this” kind of people. Then why the hell are you still here anyway?
So anyway, i went there with my former boss’ kids. I thought that it would be so awkward coz im like more than 10 years older than them. But i get excited with stuff, the 7 yrs old dana asked me, how old are you anyway? haha. kids nowadays are super smart they seem like adults in a kids’ costume lol.
We walked like almost 3 hours in that park. it’s so huge. we saw plenty of animals. i suggest maybe going there from the morning onwards coz we went there during the afternoon and most of the animals were asleep already. lol.
They also have this small carnival rides, which is quite cool, the kids love it. so if you have children with you. bring them here in the shanghai zoo. it’s near the hongqiao airport.
i’d make a shanghai zoo guide in my blogger account (http://styleshanghai.blogspot.com) later and i’d add up the link here. (this blog is just like a mini journal not really a detailed guide or anything —-you probably dont wanna know that but i’m telling you anyway).
Afterwards, we went to xiujiahui metrocity mall for dinner, still walking, my feet are almost hallucinating at this point coz i’m so damn tired and to think i’m wearing flats. i’m really buying sneakers next time for walking.
so anyway at xiujiahui, we went looking for pen tablets coz i want to practice drawing again with pen tablets instead of the mouse. i used to do that before when i was working for a t-shirt company but i sort of forgot. anyway, the nice brand to get would be the bamboo also the same makers of wacom. the small one costs around 650 rmb while the bigger one with a free mouse costs 1000+. i’m still contemplating what to get coz the thing is, i’m just using an asus eee pc, which is just good enough for chatting and internet stuff not really the best for adobe illustrator, well i haven’t really tried…but maybe it’ll work who knows. i’d just empty this out from all the files.
then my friends got the translator device. it’s pretty cool it’s supposed to be 1398 rmb, he gave it for 700 rmb. while there are other stuff this one is pretty high-tech. it has colored screen, the material is almost metallic. it has pinyin word for word (english to chinese), but if you want a sentence, it would only translate to chinese characters. but what’s cool about this is that it has a speaker and it will read the sentence out for you. so you could just flash it to the waiter’s ear hahaha. i think i might get one too if my spoken chinese wouldn’t improve after a month.
okay am i getting crazy? how could you tell? lol. - this is what dana keeps telling me the whole day. she’s really cute.
i also found a nice tripod for only 60 rmb, however there’s a cute pink one in 100 rmb. but i’m really more into purple stuff but the pink one is really cute. i love being a girl lol. im gonna use it to take pictures of my makeup and stuff so i could do videos as well in the near future.
btw i also saw a rimmel cosmetic promotion outside metrocity. im dying to check it out but we’re too many to go there. i might go there this weekend again though.
after dinner, my feet are really killing me already. but it was a great time. i love hanging out with other flipinos here. though we spoke in english the whole time coz the kids prefer it that way lol. but i do miss having people understand you in a way without saying it. great day today. i love shanghai!
one thing i love about Shanghai, is that they have lots of holidays aside from the regular annual leave that were entittled to, which i just use up during Christmas time. We’ve got tons of holidays every two months or so. Not really holidays but maybe just four days off or something. So far the ones that i’ve had this year are:
January - New Year
February - Chinese New Year
April - Tomb’s Day (equivalent to all saints day for us)
May - Dragon Boat Festival
June - term break
October - National Holiday
ok, i’ve only been here last october, so i don’t know yet the other holidays. yey! i have no idea what to do during my four days off but i’m pretty psyched about it. you know, i really want to design something or do something creative during my free time. Lately, i’ve been fulfilling my long-time dreams…like playing the piano, writing or blogging. Little things that you just take for granted, but really i think people put off stuff that they’ve always wanted to do because they’re too busy. But i strongly believe we are in control of our schedule…so give yourself a break, even just for an hour do something you love. You know, no matter how busy i get, i give myself 10 minutes, to practice for my piano lesson everyday. Then i don’t know, somehow, it gets longer up to 30 minutes. Though i’ve never practiced for an hour as i don’t have the luxury but i know i’d be able to one of these days.
I’ve also been quite keen on this ads. It’s quite addictive in a way, as my friend puts it, like playing monopoly or something. I’ve discovered pretty cool blogs too. You should try twitter too, it’s like a bettter version of RSS feeds. And it’s like reading people’s thoughts or something. I wanna unfollow this person i’ve been following…i don’t know, she seems pretty selfish, thinking she’s so cool, all she talks about is herself, how great she is, i never heard her think of other people, how she could help out. I wish people would care more. yeah, we’d all probably better off if we care more.
Oh well, really sorry for the short boring blogs…it’s been a busy week, trying to wrap things us before break time. I might go around Shanghai, go to the places i haven’t been too yet. oh well, ciao.
yeah, it’s super hot right now. let’s all wear shorts. i just saw this at the Shanghai Expat Forum today. I thought i’d repost it coz it’s hella funny. lol! hahahah. i’m still laughing!

hi guys i thought i’d make this blog more fashion-oriented rather than make it a series of how bored i am each day. Yey!
ok well, these are reposts from City Weekend:
i just want to make notes as well, since i’m addicted to sale not to mention it’s worldwide recession time.
Levi’s - Huai Hai Zong Lu May 22 to 24 up to 70% discount
Dickies - Cloudnine Mall (Metro Line 3 or 4 Zhongshan Park Station) is having a dressline and for every purchase, you get a free womenswear item. This i gotta see!
Cloudnine Mall
H&M - jackets like trench coats go less than 200 rmb, and some knits good for winter are for just 129 rmb. i’d be stocking up on these soon as Shanghai is like a wet freezer during winter…i gotta warn you about this!
and they also have nice summer blouses in prints and mostly plaids for 79 rmb. not bad if you want to extend your wardrobe! Actually my wishlist is their white pants.
C&A
long-sleeved tees (still for winter) in assorted colors - 39 rmb
jackets 150 rmb
’tis the season to buy stuff for FW’09 ladies!
i’d post some of my purchases soon. happy shopping! ciao!

Yesterday, i was wearing a hooded knit cardigan. I actually bought it for winter, i mean i intend to wear it indoors on top of my other light clothes. But it was kinda windy yesterday because of the rain.
And today i even bought a light jacket with me just in case, and what do you know? it’s really hot right now!
Yup that’s shanghai weather for you, one day it’s raining furiously then the next day it’s so hot. So it’s best to have a variety of clothes. I’m now a regular shopper because of this. lol. As if i need an excuse.
I’ve improved my piano skills, but my teacher still plays a lot better than i do, i swear her fingers were glued together while my hands looked like wolverine’s. haha.
Work is great, i couldn’t ask for anything better. I love my job. It’s after work hours that’s a bit boring. But i guess that’s ok since most of the time we need a rest right?
I remember back in Manila, after being home from work, i see my bf, go to the mall, or watch tv. There are tons of stuff to do. But here, i’m too lazy to go anywhere after work. I don’t have other friends aside from my colleagues so i guess we’ll be tired of each other’s presence in awhile. lol.
I still haven’t done my chinese homework. argh! with all these work, who has time to study? Oh well, i’m gonna do it now anyway.
Things i still have to do this week:
iron my clothes - i hate doing this
buy groceries
figure new recipes - my cooking sucks
design some clothes
organize my stuff - i have so many little papers, notebooks, i don’t really need and i’m too lazy to throw them away
experiment on different makeup looks - when you’re in a hurry you don’t have time to do this
plan a major wardrobe overhaul - watching coco chanel got me inspired to change my clothes again. life’s too short to stick to the same ugly things right?
so what are your plans for the weekend? ciao!
please feel free to elaborate on your reply. like if yes, how often, where do you get your news from? etc.
and if no, why not?
as for me, i don’t really make it a point to update myself…as my family and friends sometimes tell me if there’s really something shocking like hayden’s s*x video…just kidding. but actually i don’t really want to burden myself with two sets of news. china’s current events is lively enough for me. not to mention my everyday adventure.
so how about you? please share your thoughts.

where is this film? i’m trying to watch it from youku, but the most i could see is a 7 minute preview. there’s been a lot of dvd’s here in china, with the 2008 movie. but im a big fan of audrey tatou, so i want to see her version. any torrents expert there, please give us a link. haha. sigh!
hi everyone, i’ve gotten some good news, i’ll be having my wordpress blog pretty soon.
so i’ll share this info with you anyhow since i’m totally blessed. You may go to www.blogatize.net
it’s a network of bloggers, pretty new i suppose. and they have several categories for blogs. if you’re a niche blogger, which means you specialize on some topic, i think you have a variety of topics to choose from. then you could apply for the blog that you want. you don’t have to pay any hosting fees, and you earn thru google adsense. but imagine, having your own url at no cost right? all you have to worry is what you’re gonna blog about.
the blogatize support team is very supportive, they always reply to my questions or requests in less than 48 hours and they do explain things like in a conversation. i hate premade messages that says: this email is sent as per your request. so they’re really cool guys.
now why is this news cool? well, for starters almost every blog in the block is blocked anyway, can you think of other free blogs in english you could use? even livejournal, and xanga is blocked. so having a wordpress blog is just a blessing! oh and don’t try using that free wordpress, coz they just let you register but you can’t post anything. yeah i know. so what are you waiting for? go to blogatize now!
well it’s a good thing yahoo weather was close on its forecast today. and when i woke up it’s really tiptaptapping outside my window. actually the thing with shanghai rain, it’s mild but it’s raining the whole day.
it’s not that cold, but i wish i was wearing a scarf today. that’s one of my shopping list as well. i don’t have that much scarf…i think i only have 3 haha. my friend always tells me it’s the most important thing. but i’m just about as bad with scarf as i am with handkerchiefs…i always loose them, and they always don’t match my clothes. so i don’t know.
i’m so tired today with work. i have no energy to cook dinner. i just feel like buying some take out or something.
i wish i could speak chinese now and just order something to be delivered. but i still suck so i just cook anyway.
i hope they show the angels and demons on the dvd’s this week, or maybe i’ll check youku for it. i’m pretty bored at home. but i guess it’s not so bad…all i could think of right now is sleep anyway?
oh and which reminds me, i still didn’t practice for piano lessons nor for chinese lessons. i’m such a bad student. sigh.
oh well, that’s all for now. ciao!
the thing i like working here in Shanghai, there are plenty of holidays, 3 days off stuff. though we have to makeup on a saturday sometimes, i still think it’s pretty cool. and all around you’d hear about people’s plans going here or there…anywhere outside Shanghai.
i envy those people who actually have the luxury of both time and money to go on a vacation. for my bday this april, i went to hangzhou and i had the best time in the world…imagine if could do that every three months or so. i just wished i had known about the holidays way in advance so i could plan ahead.
for people who aren’t familiar to asia yet, it would be a good idea to go from one country to another while it’s so cheap right? but if i were given any choice, i’d just go home to Philippines, which is just 3 hours away. if you’re interested to go there, i think the cheapest flights would be from Cebu Pacific…it could take you to Manila, and Boracay and to other asian countries as well.
this holiday, i intend to just be here in Shanghai…hopefully i’d have my special visitors here soon enough. so what are you up for this holiday?
actually today is my kind of day…it’s sunny but it’s still a bit cool outside. hadn’t i forgotten it, i would’ve worn a cardigan.
by lunch time i was trying to get some sleep for my afternoon siesta…but i can’t because the construction workers by midday are really busy with their work. oh and they create so much noise.
good thing, my windows were in glass, plus i have really thick glass slides separating my room and my living room. it worked like a charm. when looking for apartments in shanghai. check out these options as well.
they do major contructions, repainting and makeover everywhere, you’d want to be prepared.
hi guys i just discovered adgitize.net yesterday, and i thought it was quite cool. now i don’t have to wait and hope someone will click on my blogs’ ads.
however, being in Shanghai at the moment, most blogs are blocked and you could just imagine how many websites i would’ve clicked if they weren’t blocked. so anyway, i made a list of every site that worked, and also those who had either an adgitize ad or entrecard ad that are easy to spot. seriously, who wants to scroll down the whole page and scroll back looking for these ads.
well anyway, it was quite tiring to click and click i must admit, but in a way i got to discover really cool blogs, i wouldn’t have thought of googleing. oh well, to the other clickaholics…enjoy!

you know what, i’m so happy today coz i finally managed to post a picture to my blogger or blogspot, despite the fact that it’s blocked, via email. hooray!
well just so to avoid confusion i’d be posting Shanghai Guides, still on my blogger account http://styleshanghai.blogspot.com
but i’d be posting about my day or life, whichever is less boring, here in this website. yeah, i know, i’m OC like that.
well anyway, it’s sunday…i had to clean up a little bit. i only do this when i have visitors coming lol. i have chinese lessons today…actually it’s more of a language exchange coz i teach her english in return. well, anyway, her english is quite good already although still a little bit basic and her chinese accent is still strong. my dream is to have her speak in an american call-center bitch accent lol.
well, today i was so happy coz she wrote this essay about how to save money and she wrote this sentence:
nowadays people are inclined to eat out because…
hold it, stop right there…can you believe it? she used that word, inclined, i’m so happy i hugged her in delight. she must have thought i’m crazy. i told her, that’s fabulous where did you pick that one up? and she said, “uh you, you always tell me to use that.”
i’m just so glad i’m so annoyingly persistent in correcting her vocabulary lol. hahaha and so what if she also learned half the bad words from me, she never used them anyway since she’s such a sweet girl.
so anyway i’m telling you im the best english teacher for free haha…before i met this girl she just keeps saying yes, no, thank you, don’t like and you have to guess half of what she’s trying to say or she’ll demonstrate it by hands but now she always talks to me quite well, without even glancing at her translating device or whatever you call that calculator-looking box.
afterwards it’s my turn, she taught me these words used for my piano lessons. the piano studio where i was taking lessons is about to be closed so i had private lessons instead. unfortunately, my friend is too busy now to translate for me so i have to take the lessons on my own. it’s not so bad coz my teacher is so nice, she always thinks i’m cute when i tell her in chinese that i don’t want to play with both hands together…seriously, it’s easier to play with your right hand first then left hand the next lol.
so anyway, the piano teacher tried to learn the phrases in english, but i’d rather hear her speak them slowly in chinese, since her english is still very basic. ok when i have enough time, i’m gonna give my piano teacher a major language tutorial.
after chinese teacher left i practiced with my piano…i had lots to learn. i’ve always thought this piece was an a-b-c song in chinese…but when my teacher played it last week, omg it’s so beautiful! and i’m destroying the melody. haha.
today i managed to play it like it’s a song not a haiku haha…but i know it’s not quite the same melody i heard last week. oh well, there’s always tomorrow. it’s quite cold today probably around 23 i guess so i’m too lazy to go out. but i might later, i want to get some new dvd’s.
so how was your day?
i’d like to thank everyone who’s been leaving messages in my message board, i don’t know why but with my blogger blog, no one left me a message there. sob! oh well. bye!
Here are some of my random pictures in Shanghai, using my iPhone…i know the images are quite unclear but nevertheless i love my iPhone coz it’s discreet and convenient to use.
at the russian restaurant (525 guangdong lu hubei lu) we went to last friday
me waiting for my piano teacher. don’t you think her tissue holder looks cute?
seriously these collection are made for me, i look everywhere and all shades of purple and violet everywhere, then there’s animal prints as well, which is so me. but then since it’s recession time, i guess i’ll just have to wate for the sale. sob!
speaking of sale, C&A (zhongshan park) has a sale this weekend. i got a jacket in twill for only 100 rmb, knitwears are about 69 to 39 rmb.

her royal cheapness - got this for only 20 rmb from a thrift shop lol
took pictures of people on my way to fuzhou lu, to foreign language bookstore. i’m really shy with taking their pictures that’s why it’s not as fabulous as i would’ve wanted. oh well.
there, bye for now. ciao.
when you’re in Shanghai, you might come across with locals who might tell you, “you must be boring?” don’t take it personally though, they really meant, you must be “bored”
well, anyway i am really bored right now. i wanted to design stuff or do something to be creative…but i can’t. i’m not in the mood and i think because i’m not inspired by anything right now. i’ve done this and that, i think i’ve shopped quite a lot coz as my theraphy lol.
i hate going to bars, i’m not really the bar type. i’d just like to have a drink or to, just to talk etc…but how could you stand to be in a dark room full of smoke and annoying music as fun…and at 40rmb per bottle for a small beer that costs 4 rmb in the grocery store.
sorry i’m blabbering again. just really bored right now. i think they might have blocked blogger because we all posted stuff like we’re bored here blah blah blah. we’re not really supposed to say unpleasant things when you’re here. argh…but what can i do? i’m really bored right now.
oh well, at least it’s raining now so it’s quite cool. i knew i should’ve bought those magazines a while ago from the foreign language bookstore.
here’s some stuff i discovered today, these are notes for myself…if you find them silly, go blog them on your own blog.
1. shanghai foreign language bookstore has japanese magazines like no no, vivi, mina, then they also have vogue paris and madame figaro, and they also have my favorite, allure magazine.
2. fashion books i wanted to buy - the one with color techniques, fashion dictionary with pictures, 200 projects to get you into fashion. i know they’re for freshmen fashion designers, but i don’t care, i want them all!
other books i want to buy - french dictionary, french grammar (don’t they have a bigger one here? i just found a pocket version), a james patterson book (i’ve been wishing they’d copy it in the fake books market lol, but i think they tend to just copy the popular ones)
3. there’s watsons at 3rd floor in cloud nine mall. i’ve always been looking for watsons here i never figured the nearest one from my place.
4. there are cool local brands of clothes at the 3rd floor of cloud nine mall as well. i’m so naive i just buy from h&m and all those other western brands. the local ones are not bad really, and they’re cheaper too of course.
5. yahoo sometimes fail in it’s weather forecast. lol. it says yesterday it’s going to rain but it didn’t although, it did rain today.
i’m sure i made a lot of sense today, that’s what you get when you’re bored to your wits. ok that’s all for now. ciao.
i’d just like to share my previous works in my previous blog: http://styleshanghai.blogspot.com
as i don’t want to repost them again here, i’d just repost the titles (as far as i could remember) and you could just google it at my blog. there’s a google search field at the upper left site of the blog.
1. How to Download Youku Videos
2. Online Movies and DVD’S
3. How to Embed Youku Videos
4. Barbie in Shanghai
5. Weekend in Hangzhou
6. How to Go to Qi Pu Lu
7. How to Go to Shanghai Tailor
8. English-Speaking Hospital Staff in Shanghai
9. English Mass - Dongjiadu Church
10. Huai Hai Lu
11. Cheng Huang Temple
12. Yu Yuan Gardens
13. Russian Restaurant in Shanghai
ok that’s all for now. ciao.

1. Go to this site.
i hope it won’t be blocked as well, so pls if you repost this…post it as a link.
2. Click refresh to remove the games advertisement.
3. Scroll down to see a picture, and click the picture.
4. A url box would come out, and you may type:
5. You may also use this for other blocked sites such as YouTube, Multiply etc.
6. The blocked site will appear in another window.
7. I know it’s like viewing your blog in a frame, but it’s better than nothing. I’m pretty sad about this as i have google ads in that site and it’s doing pretty well.
